Digitalization of Manufacturing, sustainable manufacturing, multifunctional structure and MRO
Mitigating aviation’s impact on climate change requires major changes in aircraft configurations and operations. The projects will present the last development for digital transformation of aircraft design, manufacturing, maintenance, and digital methodologies that optimise aircraft performance that will play a key role in this transformation.

Fuelling the future: Hydrogen in aviation. From the production of H2 to the aircraft refuelling
GOLIAT, ALRIGH2T, OLGA and TULIPS projects will present the Liquid H2 refuelling technical challenges. Liquid H2 flow rate, boil-off gas management, ground operations and refueller handling solutions are being developed and will be presented during the session. Global techno-economics lifecycle from H2 production to the refuelling will be presented.

Hydrogen in aviation. Fuel-flexible ultra-Low emissions combustion systems for sustainable aviation, H2 combustion, SOFC
The projects will present the last developments in the gas-turbine combustor to further reduce NOx and PM emissions as well as fuel-flexible ultra-Low emissions combustion systems for sustainable aviation. Last development in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) will be presented as well as innovative novel thrust-generating heat dissipation and recuperation system.

SAF. From the production to the aircraft refuelling
The projects OLGA, STARGATE, ALIGHT, TULIPS, and TAKE-OFF will focus on the fuel supply chain, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) uptake processes, economics of SAF, and overall sustainability of the implementation of SAF in aviation. The projects will cover the SAF Challenges: LCA and Emissions (including non-CO2), production & feedstock availability, ReFuelEU (mandate, incentives and cost for airline), transportation (downstream Supply chain), storage and distribution.

State of the art for H2-air combustion & SOFC - Dynamic panel discussion
HESTIA, TRIATHLON and HyDEA projects will together present the challenges of H2 – air combustion of future hydrogen-fuelled aero-engines. HYLENA and FlyECO projects will together present the challenges of the integration and combination of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) with turbomachinery in order to use both the electric and thermal energy for maximisation of propulsive efficiency. The format will be a dynamic panel discussion animated by the Technical Moderator and the Chairman.
