Angela Vozella, Ph. D ICT, Complex Systems & Environment. Head of Reliability
Availability Maintainability Safety & Security (R.A.M.S.&S.) Department.
With 30 years professional experience in system reliability engineering for
safety-critical applications (On-board aircraft systems and equipment, software and
hardware), she has been an active participant in many projects funded by the European
Commission and project manager of collaborative projects in space and transport.
In the CIRA Unmanned Space Vehicle project, she led the team in charge of performing
verification and validation activities for on-board software and for Safety Analysis to
obtain the Permit to Fly. For VEGA launcher, she led the CIRA team in charge of
performing RAMS analysis for 20 years.
Acting as a member of The European Technology Platform on Industrial Safety, European
Expert for Critical Infrastructures, and a Program Committee member for the Conquest
International Conference on Quality Engineering in Software Technology and International
Journal of Critical Computer-Based Systems (IJCCBS) by Inderscience Publishers, she is
also a Software Testing Engineer (STQB certification).
She was invited as a system reliability expert at the CHINESE AEROSPACE RESEARCH CENTRE
(Apr 08), and served as an Editorial Board member of the International Journal of
Critical Computer-Based Systems. Dr. Vozella was also an EASA preselected expert for
rulemaking activities for the Agency (01-10-07), and worked as a compliance verification
engineer (EASA) for a certification process of a small helicopter and its engine.
Dr. Vozella is an expert in Safety and Security dynamic, multi-risk approach within FP7
and H2020 projects and a member of EREA Working Group on Aviation Safety and Security
(Association of European Research Establishments in Aeronautics). She is also the
Chairperson of the GARTEUR Working Group on Aviation Security (Group for Aeronautical
Research and Technology in Europe) and a member of the ACARE working Grou
